Rhodes airport can be found 14km to the south-western side of Rhodes town close to the village of Paradisi. This airport is the fourth largest airport in Greece with a total passenger volume and according to the movement of 2013 with passengers of 309,895 for domestic flights while 1,785, 305 for international flights. The airport accommodates both scheduled flights and chartered flights especially in the summer when tourism hits its peak. Rhodes airport also opens all days and hours of the year and it offers services like car rentals, car parking and duty-free shops. It is just 20 minutes’ drive from the airport to get to Rhodes.

The airport consists of the small and relatively new terminal which features a restaurant, café and numerous shops including duty-free that you can pass your time. The airport is known to be quite chaotic with its inefficient and long check-in and security clearance processes. There is a WiFi available to pass the time during this process and you can also relax at the airport lounge but you will have to pay to get access to it.

Getting to and from the airport

There are public buses that run daily between the airport and Rhodes city center with departures which is as frequent as every 30 minutes, there is also taxi in abundance to choose from and you can find them on the arrivals level of the airport terminal. There are also various car rental agencies onsite if you are planning to rent a car.

Spending the night at the airport

You can sleep in the airport as you can even sleep in the seating area which features hard and metal benches which are not quite comfortable. You can also bring travel mat, travel blanket, and pillow if you are planning to sleep in the airport. The hotel also has lounges which you can use by simply purchasing a lounge pass or with a lounge membership program. If you don’t want to sleep in the airport, there are many hotels near the airport that you can sleep.
